We went in for our first OB appointment. I was 11 weeks and 3 days by my calculations. They did all the usual things, blood pressure, weight, etc. Then the OB came in and asked a few questions about my first pregnancy. I had to go to a new doctor because we had moved from Indiana to North Carolina. Then they went to try to hear the heartbeat and couldn't find it. She said, "No worries, but we are going to do a quick u/s. Since we can't hear the heartbeat, we like to give you some confirmation, so we'll just do a quick scan." Ok, so we wait for them to bring in their portable machine. As she is setting it up, she looks at Jeff and says, "Wouldn't it be funny if there were two in there!" Jeff turns white and says, "NO, it wouldn't be that funny..." Then she starts her scan and finds a heartbeat, she says "OK, there we are." As she turns the screen toward me so I can see, she says, "Oh MY! I'm not kidding...there are 2 heartbeats!" If Jeff hadn't been sitting down, he would have fallen down! :) |
